“I am fascinated by the play of light and colours in peoples’ faces evoked by their expressions. I try to read the emotions and feelings we hide behind our look. Our face should be the mirror of our soul, yet very often it is the wall blocking outsiders to look in. In many ways we are taught to not show our emotions and to stay unmoved and cool at all times. The more a look is closed, the more I am challenged to try to sense what is happening behind the wall.”

I challenge the viewer to stand in the painting next to the model. Feel the model, walk around it in the painting, and finally get into the head of the model. What is he/she thinking? What happened… what is going on? What is hidden behind the pokerface? I invite you to be eaten by the painting, become part of it, and make it yours.

In this fast world of tweets, quick-likes, quota, deadlines, cost-cutting and process-optimization, we look but we don’t see anymore. Art challenges the mind in a peaceful way and creates for the spectator their own imaginary universe, through impressions, sentiments and an interesting visual language. Art allows us to look beyond the surface. Art can cut us loose from the chaos.”
